So far, I've been doing this "diet" thing for a week, and I've lost 6 whole pounds. Yippie. The problem is that I'm frakking hungry all of the time, and I really just want to hide in my room and avoid like crazy. Not good times. Slightly better news is that I've got a Bowflex in there, and I can work out while I'm hiding myself away. You can tell the result of all this hiding: I managed to get a little red from the sun yesterday while putting up the Xmas lights.

Another issue I've run across is that I'm finding it very difficult to bring myself to do any schoolwork. I've got a paper due Wednesday that I haven't started on, a speech due the same day, and a giant chunk of studying that really shouldn't be put off until Sunday. There's a reason why I'm taking two math classes and an accounting class next semester: I like numbers even when I'm not feeling so hot otherwise.

So, anyhoo... I'm blogging now because it puts me closer to the computer, and I can pretend that I'm going to start working on my paper and/or speech. They are both for my speech class. The paper is on Henry Rollins, as an example of someone who is a "public speaker", and the speech is a special occasion speech as a final exam. The special occasion? Last day of speech class, which is pretty frakking special if you ask me. No more English classes for at least the next year, and it means that's one less class I have to worry about. So how do I get this done? I find that reducing everything to numbers makes it easier. I figure that two pages is about 900 words give or take. If I write 9 words a minute, I can have the speech done in 100 minutes. If I write 18 WPM, I can be done in under an hour.

Yes, I know that is weird. But it works for me, and that's what matters. You've got to know your limitations, and then you have to figure out ways to work around them to do what needs doing. This blog entry only took about 20 minutes, and it is about 400 words. So, between now (4:00), and the next hour when I will probably start cooking dinner (chicken cutlets, rotini in alfredo sauce, and green beans) I can probably knock out my entire paper... here I go!
